ROSEMOUNT AREA WOMEN'S GROUP

Established in April 1997, the group aims to cater for the needs of the women in the local and wider community.

Over the years we have run a wide variety of courses for the women of our community - these courses range from accredited academic courses right through the general interest hobby courses including:

  • Certificate in Women's Studies- 23 local women aged from 21 to 69 years successfully completed this long distance learning course accredited by Ruskin College, Oxford University
  • History - Women from the group are currently researching and writing essays on the topic 'The effects of the Famine in Derry' for another Ruskin College accredited course.
  • The European Computer Driving Licence certificateWomens group glass painting class
  • Health & Fitness -we are in the process of equipping a small in-house fitness centre
  • Dancing, arts & crafts, flower arranging, cooking and beauty tips.

In addition the group arranges regular weekend trips away where we get together to relax and discuss topics of interest to us.

Within the Centre we have our own office and resources and have access to the general Centre resources. Although the group is voluntary in nature we have, through the various government programmes, managed to maintain full-time representation within the Centre. The normal group meetings are on Thursday nights but we can be contacted any day during office hours.

We strongly believe that it is important for our group to remain friendly, flexible, trustworthy and inviting to new and existing members.
