TREEHOUSE PLAYGROUP In 1989, one year after Rosemount Resource Centre was formed, we began to realise that many women users of our Centre were unable to take part in our activities or indeed in any other learning or social activities due to lack of childcare facilities in our area. The lack of childcare was identified as a major obstacle to social inclusion for these parents and an obvious disadvantage to the development of their children. In order to address this problem the Treehouse Playgroup was formed. Trying
to meet the requirements laid down by social services proved very
difficult considering that we were operating from an old port-a-cabin
and sharing the space with other projects. Treehouse
Playgroup now occupies its own purpose-designed area within the Resource
Centre and offers a every increasing range of activities in a comfortable
and welcoming environment. Using fully qualified staff we have always provided run two playgroup sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon with 24 children in each session. |
