TRAINING & ADMINISTRATION

The twin-track approach adopted by the Centre has enabled us on the one hand to develop the social support structures necessary to provide crucial immediate help to those in need whilst at the same time it allows us to assist in the preparation and delivery of pathways to progress.

From our beginnings we have been providing a wide range of training for our own staff. More recently this had been continued for placements under government sponsored programmes such as New Deal and Worktrack. Initially much of our in-house training was restricted to non-accredited courses such as Personal Development, Health and Safety, Jobsearch Skills etc. Accredited training was provided for us by outside agencies.

As part of our strategic move towards sustainability we entered the Accredited Training Provider arena. Utilising our constituent partners' specialist interests and skills we now have the ability to offer accredited training in our own right and in association with other agencies in a wide range of subjects. Courses currently on offer or in preparation include:

  • Introduction to Computing
  • Keyboard Skills
  • Internet
  • Computer Architecture
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
  • Computer Literacy & Information Technology (CLAIT)
  • Call Centre Training
  • Jobskills
  • Literacy and Numeracy
  • Drugs and Alcohol Awareness
  • and a range of hobby and pastime courses (hairdressing, line dancing, beauty therapy etc.).

Our current list of courses is neither exclusive nor complete. We will continue to add further to our offers as demand is expressed or need identified. Accreditation can be provided through OCN, OCR and ECDL. Further Accrediting Bodies are currently being processed.

Individual training programmes are organised through appropriate projects and are co-ordinated centrally by Rosemount Resource Centre enabling us to put social support measures in place where necessary.

Training and skill development are key both to the development of the individual client and to the long-term sustainability of Rosemount Resource Centre. It has therefore a central role in all of our activities and will grow in proportion to our, and to the community's, needs.

NEW DEAL, WORKTRACK AND BRIDGE TO EMPLOYMENT

Rosemount Resource Centre is involved in the delivery of all three government programmes operated through the Training and Employment Agency -

  • New Deal - we are subcontractors to the main consortium
  • Worktrack - we are part of the contracting consortium
  • Bridge to Employment - we provide places through the Com Cubed project.

These programmes offer a range of options to the unemployed and include training and work placement. Information on all these options can be obtained by contacting the Centre.

Our administration personnel assist the groups affiliated to the Centre to

  • locate and obtain funding
  • manage the individual projects and
  • to provide bookkeeping and accounting expertise.
