COM CUBED

COMmunity COMputerised COMmunications

Almost seven years ago Rosemount Resource Centre, as part of an economic appraisal, identified the need for community access to Information Technology as a key to develop its full potential both as an effective service and as an engine for social change. Com Cubed was established to research all aspects of the Information Technology industry.

Initially funded by the Foyle Development Organisation and Derry City Council the project soon found itself the subject of increasing requests for consultancy and support from many other community groups. The market potential for Corn Cubed's services soon became apparent and after reorganisation and with the help of private investment Com Cubed established itself as an IT company in the Derry area.

Based in the Rath Mor Shopping Centre not far from the Centre, Com Cubed -

  • assembles, sells, installs and repairs PCs
  • installs and maintains networks
  • is registered as a Training Provider with OCR, OCN, ILA and the Bridge to Employment programmes
  • delivers accredited training courses such as the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), CLAIT and National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)courses.
  • is the lead partner and developer of the www.Com3.org community website.

The ethos of Com Cubed is to provide an honest service, to give local people a chance of a decent job and to reinvest our profit for the benefit of the local community. For example last year we donated almost £10,000 to a number of local groups. This project is a prime example of how we propose to develop long-term sustainability for our services.
